Bath Spa University

We are a university-led consultancy at Bath Spa University, based at The Studio in Bath, Bath Spa University’s new enterprise and innovation hub for creative technology. The Studio provides a space for local micro-businesses, Bath Spa students, academics and graduates to work on projects and ideas which focus on creativity and technology. It is also a venue to share learning through regular workshops, events and activities which are open to the wider community across the South West.

Explore some of the research that has emerged from our funded R&D activity, including: the Immersive Promotion Biblewhich offers a beginner's guide to producing marketing campaigns for a range of VR and AR experiences; the Understanding the VR Market in 2021 report, co-written with Catherine Allen, which overviews the current state of play for UK VR headset sales since the pandemic; plus academic publications about our projects for various leading journals.

We partner with the BA (Hons) Media Communications degree at Bath Spa University, giving all of this course’s undergraduate students the support and collaborative opportunities to extend their work into the immersive sector.

With Bath Spa's BA (Hons) Media Communications, students learn to revolutionise how media creators communicate to audiences. The degree prepares students for success across the communications sector, reimagining sought-after skills in marketing, social media management and journalism through the lens of ethically engaged media activism.

In their final year, the Media Communications students join The Studio, and get the chance to work with us at Immersive Promotion Design. We run a third-year module at the university called Immersive Media, where students gain first-hand insight into all our latest research and campaigns.

By supporting some of the best and brightest arts, media and technology creatives in the South West region - collaborating on live cross-platform campaigns, feature articles, activist media and AR trails - these students grow into 21st century media communications professionals.
